by Molly Schecklman – With winter in full swing in Wisconsin, the activities that follow the weather are starting to commence. Central Wisconsin is home to many snow tubing hills that offer a wide array of runs. Now go put on your winter gear and hit the runs for some family fun.

Bruce Mound

Bruce Mound offers downhill skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing with equipment rental available. Bruce Mound is open all weekend long to welcome the winter adventurers. Private parties and school trips can be arranged. For more information visit this link.

Mount Moldy

410 E 2nd St, Neillsville, WI 54456

Located in the heart of Downtown Neillsville, Mount Moldy offers free, family fun. However, one must be brave enough to venture back to the peak after sliding down as this hill does not have a tow rope.Mount Moldy is located on Elm Street, quietly tucked off the north end of Schuster Park and can be accessed from W. First Street, Willow Street, or E. Second Street.

A seasonal heated warming house with restrooms is open by reservation only. A $30 park reservation fee applies to the warming house. For reservations, call 715-743-7071.
For those that do not wish to use the warming house, the tubing hill is completely free.

Sylvan Hill

Sylvan Hill in Wausau, Wisconsin offers tubing trails that are one mile and reach a peak elevation of 120 feet.

Hours of Operation:
Friday – 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Saturday– 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Sunday – 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Adult (14 and older) – $9.00/session
Child (42″ to 13 years old); must be 42″ to ride a tube – $6.50/session
Group of 4 Youth – $24.50/session

No riding double on tubes. Children less than 42 inches tall are not allowed to ride alone in a tube or to ride on the lap of an adult.

Perkinstown Winter Sports Area

Not only does Perkinstown Winter Sports Area offer tubing, but cross-country skis as well as snowshoes are also available for half day and full day rentals. Admission is free so the only cost is the equipment rental. Head to Medford and make a day of it by exploring the nine miles of trails that offer scenic tours of the Chequamegon National Forest.

Powers Bluff County Park

Located near the small town of Arpin, Powers Bluff County Park offers ski and snowboarding slopes as well as four runs for tubing. The 1.3 miles of groomed cross-country trails also offer a ski slope that is perfect for beginners. Availability is dependent on snowfall.
