The Wood County Parks and Forestry Department would like to inform the public that our parks will be opening on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

What’s new?

• Camping reservations can now be made one year in advance!
• Please see our updated fees on our website or Facebook.
• Reservations can now be made through the office for the entire camping season of
May 1 – October 31. Dexter County Park remains open through the gun deer season
with only self-registration allowed past October 31.
• Dexter County Park now allows ATV access in certain areas of the park. Ten new
campsites will be constructed along the designated route.
• Reservations must be made 7 days prior to the first night’s stay.
• We now have nine shelters available to rent. Two new ones added this year include
the ATV Shelter out on Hwy. 54 and the open shelter inside the Dexter Campground (available to campers only). These can be reserved one year in advance of your event.

As a reminder:

Pets: Per our ordinance 600.08(1). Pets are not allowed to enter any buildings, beaches or playgrounds in any of our parks. In other park areas, pets are permitted however, they must be kept on a leash not more than 10 feet long and their owners must pick up after them and immediately dispose of waste into the proper waste receptacle.

Camping: We have three campgrounds. Dexter Park, South Park, and North Park. For reservations, you may logon to www.co.wood.wi.us/departments/parks and make your reservation on- line. Boating & Fishing: Lake Dexter, Lake Wazeecha and Lake Nepco provide a variety of activities from fishing to boating and swimming. Beaches officially open on Memorial Day weekend. There are no lifeguards on duty at any time.

Passive activities: Many passive activities can also be enjoyed in the parks such as hiking, biking, picnicking, disc golf, playground areas etc.
