Bakerville Sno-Rovers will have a new groomer on the trails this snowmobile season.
The Ram Pickup was a much-needed addition to the club.
“Some clubs use Tuckers (our orange groomer), some use tractors with tracks,” said Kevin McEwen, member. “The idea of using a really powerful pickup truck is fairly new one. The truck can’t do everything a Tucker can, but will fill in nicely and costs about half of what a new Tucker 2000 goes for.”
One of seven snowmobile clubs in Wood County, Bakerville Sno-Rovers manages about 55 miles of trail around Marshfield. These connect with Marathon and Clark counties, Auburndale and Pittsville trails.
“If you snowmobile from Walmart to Powers Bluff, you’ll be on Sno-Rovers trails,” explained McEwen.
Dedicated volunteer groomers work early mornings from 1-6 a.m. typically and work to get new snow packed on the trail as soon as possible. Every sign post and trimmed tree is made possible by volunteer efforts.
