For outdoor ice skating enthusiasts, Wausau currently offers four outdoor ice skating rinks.
Three are operated by the the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department and each come with warming houses and night lighting. Bring a pair of skates or rent them, and hit the rinks for free. Note that rinks close when air and wind temperature drops to -20.

There is a fourth option for outdoor skating at Doepke Park, which offers two rinks for casual skating and hockey. Both are lighted and a warming shelter with bathrooms is available. Hours are Monday through Friday from 4-9 p.m., and weekends from 1- 9 p.m.
